Iona Hap kit

Our new kit comprises a new pattern by talented designer, Stella Ackroyd, 2 skeins of our alpaca and Cheviot worsted yarn and one of our project bags.  The finished blocked hap is 168cm (66 inches) wingspan and 61cm (24 inches) centre spine.

The project grows quickly on size 6mm, 10(US) needles.  Increased stitches are cleverly incorporated into the textured pattern so that they can’t be seen and the gentle central spine eyelets create a slight crescent shape which hugs the shoulders.

The yarn is a blend of 70% fine alpaca fleece from alpacas called Sam, Sasha and Elvira who live in Scottish herds, and 30% quality Cheviot fleece.  The skeins are approximately 200m, and two skeins will comfortably complete this project at the correct gauge.

Our project bags are 100% cotton, 37cm wide and 42 cm tall and are produced in the UK and printed locally .

Introducing our first kit – a cosy and characterful shawl (hap) knitted with our new yarn called Alder, a worsted weight blend of fine alpaca and Cheviot fleece.  The pattern has been designed by a local designer, Stella Ackroyd, who we are delighted to team up with on this kit.  The pattern is worked top down from a garter stitch tab, and is an easy to follow pattern with just enough going on to keep a knitters interest without presenting challenge. It’s a relaxing, rewarding knit.

The kit comes with 2 skeins of our Alder yarn, a pattern and our new 100% cotton, ethically produced, project bag

We have also knitted the hap in our cream light Aran and it worked beautifully.  If you would prefer that yarn, just let us know
