These blends of 60% alpaca and 40% grey Shetland fleece are soft but strong, bouncy sport weight yarns.
The four warm shades are 100% natural blends with fawn, caramel and Bay Black alpaca fleece from small herds with white, Moorit and Black Shetland fleece. The shades are Fawn, Fudge, Moorit and Bay Black.
The Fawn, Fudge and Moorit blends have been created by combining honey and caramel fleeces from alpacas called Isla, Storm and Bambi from Aberdeenshire, and Mike from Perthshire. The Bay Black is a combination of fleece from alpacas called Darroch and Darcy from Lanarkshire. The Fawn is then 40% white Shetland; the Moorit is 40% Moorit Shetland; and, the Bay Black is 40% Black Shetland. Fudge is a mixture of the alpaca fleeces with white Shetland to produce a flecked, heathery yarn.
We used our original Grey Shetland blend for both garments and accessories as it’s soft enough next to skin. We are now busy on a new sweater with the Fawn to start with. Here is an Iona hap in the fudge shade – just one skein required!
