These blends of 60% alpaca and 40% grey Shetland fleece are a soft but strong, bouncy sport weight yarns. The darker steely grey shade was produced with a batch of alpaca fleece from Idris and Jack who live on an organic small holding in Aberdeenshire and the gorgeous Juliet who lives in Lanarkshire in Scotland – see her with her pink harness.
The brand new second lighter warm rose grey shade mixes alpaca fleece from Helios and Josh from Aberdeenshire with lighter grey Shetland sheep fleece.
I have popped a photo of grey Shetland sheep in the Gallery. The yarn is soft enough to be close to the skin.
I have knitted the Dexter cardigan by Isabell Kraemer and a Vatsland jumper by Ella Gordon with the darker shade of this yarn. Louise Scollay reviewed this yarn on her KnitBritish podcast, episode 88. Louise loved the yarn and I hope you do too. The photo shows her wearing the Antarkis shawl by Janina Kallio she made with it.
